How Trateum Works
A simple 3-step process that takes 30 seconds to understand and 20 seconds to use
Employee receives SMS
Trateum sends a brief text message 1-2 times per week. Each pulse contains 4 simple questions on a 1-5 scale.
The 4 burnout indicators:
- Workload: "How manageable is your workload this week?"
- Autonomy: "Do you feel in control of your work decisions?"
- Recognition: "Do you feel valued for your contributions?"
- Purpose: "Does your work feel meaningful?"
Takes 20 seconds to complete. No apps, no logins, just text.

Anonymous responses aggregated
Responses are immediately aggregated and anonymized before storage. We never store personally identifiable information with survey responses.
How anonymity works technically:
- No PII (personally identifiable information) is ever stored
- Responses are aggregated into team-level statistics immediately upon receipt
- Team minimums enforced: No data is reported unless at least 5 team members respond
- Managers see patterns and trends, never individual responses
Phone numbers are used only for SMS delivery and are stored separately from survey responses. Read our full privacy policy.
Managers get real-time alerts
When concerning patterns emerge, managers are immediately notified via Slack or email.
No dashboards to check. No reports to generate. No analysis paralysis. Just clear, actionable alerts when your team needs support.
What triggers an alert:
- Sudden drop: Team scores decline significantly (20%+ drop in any indicator)
- Consistently low: Scores remain in the red zone (below 2.5 average) for 2+ weeks
- Declining trend: Gradual downward trend over 4-6 weeks

The 4 Burnout Indicators
Research-backed factors that predict employee burnout and turnover
Workload
Overwhelming workload is the #1 predictor of burnout. When employees consistently report low scores here, it signals unsustainable pressure that leads to exhaustion and turnover.
Autonomy
Lack of control over one's work creates frustration and disengagement. Employees who feel micromanaged or powerless are significantly more likely to leave within 6 months.
Recognition
Feeling undervalued is a silent killer of retention. Even high performers will leave if their contributions go unnoticed. Recognition doesn't need to be monetary—it needs to be sincere.
Purpose
Work without meaning leads to apathy. When employees can't see how their work matters, engagement plummets. Purpose is what keeps people motivated during challenging times.
